Tuesday Tunes: Letter "N"

Today I'm linking up with my friend Lisa over at Meandering, Adventures & Crafty Inspirations for Tuesday Tunes! Click here to come link up, too!

Today's Tuesday Tunes prompt is: A song on your playlist that starts with the letter "N"

Since it was Valentine's Day a few days ago, I decided to go with something a little nice and romantic. And I absolutely LOVE this song. Here is Lauryn Hill's "Nothing Even Matters" -- dedicated to my boo thang. ;)

Tuesday Tunes: Jessy Lanza - Kathy Lee

My husband was going through The Guardian's Best Albums of 2013. He played this song and I instantly loved it. I've had it on heavy rotation ever since. I have yet to listen to the rest of her album, but this song is a winner. I love the beat. Makes me just want to sit down, bob my head and chill out (and maybe do a little dance). A good-vibe song, for sure.

Enjoy!

Tuesday Tunes: Mayer Hawthorne- Royals

Boy, do I love me some Mayer Hawthorne! He posted his cover of Lorde's "Royals" on Facebook last week and I immediately pushed play- no hesitation. I was instantly hooked! This song has been on heavy rotation for me (this version and the original). I'm actually listening to it right now as I type this! I am so in love with this version though. I love Mayer Hawthorne's music. His voice is so smooth.

Here's the audio:

Tuesday Tunes: Neon Hitch

The other morning, as I was getting ready for work, J started to play this song on his computer and I really liked it. It was something he had found on Buzzfeed- a singer from the UK called Neon Hitch. The song sounded familiar.. and a couple of minutes in- I realized it was a cover. But her version is ONE HUNDRED MILLION TIMES BETTER than the original. Trust. Me.

This is Neon Hitch and her cover of Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop." And like I said- it's so, so , so much better than Miley's version! This cover has a reggae, feel-good, chill vibe to it. It's really great- and so is the video! Reminds me of summertime. Check it out:

I searched for her on Youtube because I wanted more. You can check out her Youtube channel for more of music here. She does some covers, but she does have original music. I have enjoyed listening to her. I really like her voice. And her style, too. She is cute! I wish I could pull of styles like her!

Join Tuesday Tunes with us- started by my friend Lisa at Meandering, Adventures & Crafty Inspirations! We love discovering new music!

What do you think of Neon Hitch?

Tuesday Tunes: Janelle Monáe

I'm joining my friend Lisa over at Meanderings, Adventures, and Crafty Inspirations again for some Tuesday Tunes!

Today I want to talk a little about one of my faves- Janelle Monáe! I just love her style, her voice, and she is an AMAZING performer. J and I saw her live when she opened for Bruno Mars a few years ago and she was just incredible! If you haven't heard of her or have but haven't listened to her, definitely look into it. Her music is R&B/Soul/Funk. I just love her originality. I also enjoy all her 'girl-powerness' especially in a lot of her music videos.

This one is from her debut studio album The ArchAndroid and it's one of my favorite songs of hers- "Tightrope". I used to workout to it a lot. Also, I need to learn some of her smooth dance moves she does in this video! Ooooweee!

Are you a fellow Janelle Monáe fan? What's your favorite song of hers?

Tuesday Tunes | Mestizo Magic

My friend Lisa over at Meanderings, Adventures & Crafty Inspirations came up with this wonderful idea of Tuesday Tunes. Basically, it's a way to find new music, and I'm always down for that! On Tuesdays, you share a song from an artist you've 'discovered' and want to share with everyone. I think this a great idea as I'm always looking for new music and wanting to share my musical interests!

For my very first Tuesday Tunes, I'd like to share a favorite song of mine from a local artist / my husband (ha!) who goes by the stage name Mestizo Magic. This song is called Commercial Break. It's an older song of his, but I really like it. And the video was really fun to make. We got all our friends together and shot it in an alley. I hope you guys like it, too. Let me know what you think!

Mestizo Magic does all kinds of music from pop, R&B, hiphop, acoustic, and country. You can listen to more of his songs on Reverbnation (where most of his country songs are), Soundcloud here and here (pretty much all genres of his songs), like him on Facebook, and find him at his official website.

Please feel free to join us for Tuesday Tunes, or comment below telling me about an artist you like-- I love learning about new music!
