The Sunday Currently, volume 7

It's been a lovely Spring day today. I am loving it! J and I even walked downtown this morning for some breakfast (we love how close we live to downtown- just a 15-20 minute walk!). It was great. And also- I discovered that the best time to see downtown Nashville (i.e. Broadway) is earlier in the morning before it gets too crazy!

At breakfast this morning at Dunn Bros Coffee-- good sandwiches, muffins & coffee!

Here is today's Sunday Currently:

C U R R E N T L Y . . .

R E A D I N G  Fun home : a family tragicomic by Alison Bechdel

W R I T I N G  nothing at the moment.

L I S T E N I N G to my 90's hiphop Pandora station-- it's really making me feel nostalgic!

T H I N K I N G   about A R U B A! The time is almost here!!

S M E L L I N G   fresh air! I have the windows upstairs and downstairs open- our place needs it!

W I S H I N G    I had a big fat fish taco in my hands right  about now!

H O P I N G  my husband does well at Writers' Night this week!

W E A R I N G  Hello Kitty PJ bottoms & a tank top

L O V I N G    the feeling of Spring in the air!

W A N T I N G   a big fat fish taco... I've been craving one for weeks now, I even posted in the Yelp community boards as to where in Nashville I can find the best fish tacos & got a lot of responses, but I haven't fulfilled my craving yet!

N E E D I N G  sunblock. For some reason I get sunburned hella fast nowadays. I hate getting old!

F E E L I N G  hopeful.

C L I C K I N G on this, this & this link . . . these so made my day! And yes- I am a total Buzzfeed addict!

As a bonus- and since I haven't done one in a while- I'm also doing today's Sunday Social! Double-whammy!

1. What is your ideal way to relax?
Lying on a beach, sun beating against my body, the smell of ocean, suntan lotion & sea breeze in the air and with a drink in hand.

2. Where is your favorite place to be?
Prepare for this corniness: anywhere with J. Oh- and/or in California with my fam & friends.

3. Who do you consider your biggest role model?
My parents. All my life I've looked up to them- not just as individuals, but as a couple. They've shown me how a marriage should be like- with all the sacrifices and love and everything! They're just the best!

4. What does your life look like in 3 years?
Who knows??? That's just way too far ahead to tell. You never know with J and I. =)

5. If you could go back and change one decision, what would it be?
I would have gone to college right out of high school (instead of waiting several years to get my Bachelor's) and I would have gone with a better major than I did. But you know what- I have no regrets! Oh- and I also would have traveled more.

6. What is your biggest accomplishment in life thus far?
Getting married to the love of my life and just being happy!

Traveling the Rainbow: Yellow

I got such a great response from my first post of Traveling the Rainbow-- thank you to all who enjoyed it! Let's keep the ride going. . .

Since it's Spring, I wanted to pick a nice, cheerful, happy color. So for this edition of Traveling the Rainbow, I picked the color . . .

Y E L L O W :

"...the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness, has conflicting associations. . . yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy..."

"Studies show that the meaning of the color yellow can be warmth, cheerfulness, increased mental activity, increased muscle energy. The color yellow helps activate the memory, encourage communication, enhance vision, build confidence, and stimulate the nervous system." --
(from
Color Meanings. Thank you, Lisa, for the site!)

Travel Tuesday: F O O D !

I've mentioned before in my Food in South Korea post that when J and I plan a trip somewhere, the thing that gets me the most excited is the new food I get to try!

I am not a picky eater. I'm pretty much down to try a lot of things. I've eaten things from fried meal worms from street vendors in Bangkok, chicken intestine on a stick in the Philippines, guinea pig in Ecuador, and live octopus at the seafood market in South Korea.

J and I like to enjoy the culinary beauty of all the different places we go. As many of you already know, we have a little travel-series on Youtube dedicated to our love of food-- The Hungry Backpacker.

For Travel Tuesday- the prompt is "Food." I wanted to share our Hungry Backpacker videos to you all again because I think they best show the food we've encountered while traveling. Hope you enjoy!

Question of the Day: Dream Job

If you could have any job, what would you want to do/be?

This question is pretty simple for me- a job that would pay me to travel the world. I would want my own travel show-- I would get to see and experience so many places, all the while getting paid to do so. Heck. Yeah.

How about you? What job would you want?

The Boy Behind the Blog #10

Another round of the Boy Behind the Blog! Here are March's questions and J's answers:

1. What's your lucky number?
I don't have a lucky number.

2. Do you have a lucky charm?
I don't have a lucky charm.  I don't believe in luck.  There's no such thing as lucky people and unlucky people.  Just rich people and poor people.

3. Do you fill out a bracket for March Madness? Who do you want to win?
I don't watch basketball.

4. March 10th is "Middle Name Pride Day." What's your middle name?
Eugenio.

5. Submit one question that would would like to see on a future The Boys Behind the Blog.
This is a trick question. If I provided a question here, I would have to answer it in the future.
(Ha, he's a smart cookie!)

Traveling the Rainbow: Purple

I am a believer that different colors evoke different feelings, emotions, and/or memories in us all.

When I've looked out into the red dirt and rocky walls of the Grand Canyon, I felt energized and in awe. As I swam in the green waters of Jellyfish Lake in Palau, I felt peace and wonder. When I am in the desert and see the brown dirt, I am always taken back to my childhood when we would always dirtbike (a family tradition of ours). When I swam in the crystal clear blue waters of Caramoan, Philippines, I felt at home.

I want to start something new. I want to find photos from all over the world with a specific color scheme. Beauty and color is everywhere. I want to use this "Traveling the Rainbow" series as a way to show appreciation to it all.

My first color I chose is of course my favorite:
P U R P L E

Iceland

France

Provence, France

Crocuses in Washington, D.C.

Tasmania

Saudi Arabia

Holi Festival in India

Chile

Glacier National Park

How does purple make you feel? What does purple make you think of?

I found all these amazing photos via Google search. Just click on the caption below each photo to be taken to the source. Please feel free to join me in Traveling the Rainbow! I would love to see the photos you find!

New Country Music {via my husband, part 2}

My husband has been working hard on his music lately -- co-writing with people, networking, coming up with new songs, editing/producing tracks... etc. etc. etc. And I am oh so proud of him.

Here are his three latest (and I am really diggin' all of them!):

You can check out more of his music here, visit his website, like him on Facebook, and check him out on SoundCloud.

So, what do you think of these songs?

Monthly Photo Journal: February 2014

My February in a few snapshots:

I made these for my kids for Valentine's Day // This is what I got from my kids & their parents for V-day // This was my gift from J. I hadn't had a Ringpop in FOREVER.

J & I ready for a little Saturdate. // I found out you can print Instagram pics via the Walgreens app! I was excited about it. // Pajama Day at work. I wore my Hello Kitty pj's.

Our good friend came to visit us before being deployed to Kuwait. // We ate at Dick's. It was quite an experience. // Our friend brought us burritos from California. I was the happiest girl in the world!

It was a good month and we were so happy to have a visitor! Our Valentine's Day was eh. We're not big V-Day celebrators anyway.

How was your February?

Previous MPJ's can be found here.
